Tsala Treetop Lodge is nothing like the tree houses we spent our days in as children. It’s chic, luxurious and has us wanting to exchange our condos for a life above the greens (with an outdoor shower too, please).
From the moment you arrive at Tsala Treetop lodge you feel as if you’ve stepped into a majestic realm, far removed from your life back home. Situated high above the forests of Plettenberg Bay sits 5-star villas ‘in the sky’. If the child in you could design their perfect hideaway, this would be it! Decked with an over-flow rim pool, a lounge avec fireplace and a gorgeous room with expansive views over the forest, Tsala might just be the most unique place we’ve stayed. If a bath-tub large enough for a rugby team, coupled with candles isn’t what you deem one of life’s most important décor show pieces, then the outdoor shower might be for you (just be prepared for an audience… as the forests monkeys are very much involved in you stay at Tsala).
With bubbly on arrival and a couch/view made for the perfect book, the only excuse we found to leave our villa was at mealtime of course. Freshly cut fruits, croissants, salmon and cheese boards are desired by both man and primate as guests often find the monkeys following them to the restaurant’s deck come breakfast. Dinner is just as ceremonious with pre-dinner drinks in front of the fire a nightly ritual at the lodge. For those who are slightly more adventurous and wish to venture a few meters from the lodge, Zinzi restaurant (on the property) makes for a magical date night. Aside from the food being extraordinary, the large dining chairs and ambience is something that compels the foodies in us to start snapping away at Instagram.
A week, a month or even a year wouldn’t be enough time at Plett’s most magical resort (and if wasn’t for their 11 am check-out, we’d still be on our deck, sipping bubbly and looking out over the world’s most breathing view). Oh and it’s kinda cool to say we stayed in our own treehouse, right?
