Once a summer camp, Cedar Lake Estate is New York’s chicest influencer hideout and wedding hotspot.
From the moment you arrive at Cedar Lake Estate in Hudson, New York, everything is so aesthetically pleasing, it’s as if you’re on the set of a fashion editorial. The 500-acre property in the Hudson Valley was developed as a summer camp in 1929. In 1986 the property was bought by the Karvellas family and continued to run as a camp until 2011 when the two Karvellas daughters, Stephanie and Lisa, turned the camp into the luxury estate it is today (think Frette linen, scented candles and home baked banana bread).
The estate, which is open year-round, has activities for each season. In the spring, summer and fall, the sisters host luxury destination weddings on the weekends (where no detail is too small). The estate is so accommodating to making your dream wedding a reality, that a couple once built their own ballroom right next to their already luxurious 6400 square foot reception barn. The structure was complete with hardwood floors, air conditioning, French doors, and chandeliers. The wedding party enjoyed it for dinner and then went into the original barn for dancing. The crazy part? The structure was dismantled the next day.
While the weekends are dedicated to extravagant or intimately luxurious weddings, the weekdays at the estate welcome big brands for their corporate retreats. Cedar Lake has hosted a plethora of gorgeous media events with large brands including BMW, Well + Good, Benefit Cosmetics and Macallan. Macallan helicoptered fifty VIP media guests to Cedar Lakes Estate, where the team transformed the estate into an enchanted forest with surprises and delights everywhere – from massages overlooking the lake, to cask-making on the mountain-top, to a beautiful farm-to-table meal in the garden. Everything the planners at Cedar Lakes do is in-house, with their farm-to-table culinary and mixology program, beautiful accommodations that sleep over 200 people and an endless list of activities.
In the winter, they have fewer events, so are able to individually rent our cottages to vacationers who want a relaxing escape into nature. Cedar Lake offers complimentary breakfast, a cozy communal lodge for drinks and games (with the most perfect Insta-ready décor) and really special “pop up dinners” most Saturday nights during the winter. This season offers an opportunity for guests to experience Cedar Lakes without needing an invite to a wedding or private retreat.
From the moment we arrived and checked into our sleepy pine cottage, we were totally usurped into the beauty of the Hudson Valley. The modern luxury is perfect for guests wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan with a rustic summer camp feel. Guests are urged to enjoy all the activities the estate has to offer such as snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the winter, playing old-school board games in the canteen and roasting S’mores by the camp fire. When the weather warms up, guests can enjoy bouncing on the BLOB, swimming in the lake, playing kickball on the fields and exploring the chef’s garden.
Perfect for a weekend away, a media launch or better yet, your wedding, Cedar Lake Estate is the perfect city getaway and we LOVE visiting no matter the season.
