Hottest Non-Surgical Trends of 2018
Btw, boobjobs are out of fashion this year (but the question is … what’s in?)
We all want to look like a Victoria Secret model (without the sutures for our mother in law to judge us). So what’s a modern day girl to do if she wants a little nip/tuck? Well, the answer is simple. With these trending procedures there’s more tuck than nip.
The Non-Surgical Nose Job: Nose jobs were not left in the 90’s, however in 2018, nose jobs are a lot less gruesome. Instead of a traditional rhinoplasty, people are using fillers to change the shapes of their noses in a procedure that takes less than 15 minutes (literally the same time as an episode of Days of our Lives without the trailers). Plastic surgeons inject a hyaluronic acid filler to smooth out imperfections and help contour the nose shape. The injections won’t last longer than two years, so like, about as long as it will take you to work out your quarter life crisis and learn to love your nose again. The best thing is that fillers can be used to subtly improve the shape of the nose—and although not permanent, it is a less-expensive option than a traditional rhinoplasty so you can use that extra Ching- Ching for a new Louis Vuitton. When compared to rhinoplasty, nonsurgical nose jobs can’t make a nose smaller, but they can help correct imperfections and camouflage areas that are concerning to patients.
PRP Injections: Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP injections have been slowly gaining a cult following for a while now thanks to Kim Kardashian and her Instagram Vampire facial, however there is so much more to this miracle treatment. Surgeons take a patient’s own blood and spin it to extract platelets and growth factors. They then separate out the plasma and incubate it to multiply its healing agents before injecting it back into the patient’s skin or hair follicles to rejuvenate skin and regenerate hair growth.
Botox: Two words? Preventative ageing. People under the age of 30 are finally cottoning on to the fact that the younger you start taking anti-ageing preventatives seriously, the less you will have to do in your 40’s and 50’s. Why we love Botox? It teaches your muscles not to tense and therefore cause those horrible face lines. Coupled with a roller and great serums, you are sure to look 30 when you’re 60. You can thank us later.
Fillers: Want a cute cupid’s bow? Why not try a natural filler just to give your lip a little pick me up (Please no Kylie Jenner’s here). There is nothing wrong with fillers if you do them properly and in moderation.
The non-surgical facelift
The practice of lifting the face and body with threads is new and improved and here to stay. Threads work well because they stimulate collagen. The material of the thread itself can be made of a material that acts as a foreign substance to the body in order to stimulate collagen growth, or the thread may have changes in the surface of the thread (barbs cones or knots) that will catch onto the skin. When the doctor places the thread and positions the skin over it, it looks great immediately and over time (there is a lifting effect that continues to improve).
