When in New York, there’s only one place you’ll find us – at a swanky rooftop bar with mimosa in hand. Check out our favourite spots in the city.
The Rainbow Room
Situated at the Top of the Rock, the Rainbow Room is one of New York City’s swankiest date night spots. The highest outdoor terrace bar in New York City welcomes its guests 65 stories above the iconic Rockefeller Center and we’re obsessed! Having opened in 1934, the Rainbow Room has significantly influenced American cocktail culture and their cocktail list is to die for. Our favourite on the menu? The Black Orchid cocktail. We recommend the Rainbow Room for those first/awkward Tinder dates ‘cos with a view this stunning, there will be a lot to talk about.
The Press Lounge
Found at the top of Ink 48 hotel, The Press Lounge is the hottest and most breathtaking rooftop bar in New York. Press exudes refined elegance with subtle luxuries: a glass walled interior space, seasonal cocktails, an extensive wine list and seasonally inspired small plates. Opened in 2010, it quickly became recognized as one of Manhattan’s finest rooftop lounges; Frank Bruni, of the New York Times, wrote that the Press Lounge was “without question, one of the city’s most attractive rooftop bars”. In the same year, New York Magazine recognized it as New York’s “Top New Rooftop Bar,” .Our recommendation? A glass of Rosé and the man of your dreams, because the press lounge is the only foreplay you need. Did we mention we spotted Perez Hilton there this summer?
This Midtown rooftop bar turns into party central on weekends. 230 FIFTH is New York’s largest outdoor Rooftop Garden and Fully enclosed Penthouse Lounge. One floor is fully enclose with a rooftop garden is open to the sky. Large umbrella’s offer shelter on sunny days and igloo’s offer heat on cold winter nights. How perfect? We suggest you head over to 230 fifth with your girls or boys for a wild night out. And if you’re feeling extra, the rooftop offers Saturday and Sunday brunches perfect to cure any hangover from the night before.
The Kimberly Hotel
Upstairs at the Kimberly hotel is the perfect place to enjoy a late lunch with your besties. The penthouse level rooftop bar has views of midtown Manhattan while boasting three separate indoor/outdoor areas with stunning interior design features like retractable glass ceilings. Not only is the food out of this world, the cocktails are Instagram worthy AF.
This is the perfect place for frozen margaritas and nachos! Aside from their banging Happy Hour, Cantina also offers one of New York’s most famous brunches. Cantina Rooftop features a climate-controlled retractable glass rooftop with a spectacular skyline view. It’s perfect for ALL weather conditions and once the music starts we can’t stand still. Salsa anyone?
JIMMY at the James
This hidden rooftop bar is hopping once you take the lift up to the top floor. Although not as famous as some of the contenders on this list, Jimmy shouldn’t be left off yours. The Soho rooftop bar, JIMMY, is a contemporary interpretation of a classic pub with a 1970’s New York twist. Elements like herringbone floors, a leather trimmed solid wood bar top, brick glazed tile walls, rich blue upholstery and working fireplaces come together to create a sense of warmth. A year-round destination, JIMMY opens into the NYC rooftop pool deck during the warmer months. But whether indoors or out, JIMMY guests are treated to one of the most spectacular views in New York City: a river-to-river vista looking over Midtown, Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge and beyond.
Ok, you need a membership to enter New York’s most fabulous members-only club (and they have a rule… NO SELFIES!). The famous rooftop which is home to an array of celebrities in summer has views of downtown Manhattan and the Hudson River. The heated swimming pool is open year-round; food and drinks are served at the loungers and tables all day during summer months, so if you can get through the tight security, lazing here all day to look for a husband is totally possible. Our menu recommendation? The chicken salad.
A globally influenced seafood-restaurant set in a landmark building at the heart of Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, CATCH New York features contemporary renditions of classic seafood preparations, successfully fusing great food, with an exceptional social scene. The 400 seat, tri-level restaurant offers a variety of unique dining experiences to its diverse clientele, boasting an open kitchen and communal dining options that further augment the warm, inviting atmosphere. This combination, coupled with the extension of CATCH Roof and its al fresco dining, has created a complete and memorable set of experiences for CATCH’s devoted patrons who return time and again to enjoy signature dishes. We recommend booking in advance at the rooftop for dinner and staying all night for drinks.
The Spyglass rooftop bar
Found at the top of the Archer Hotel, Spyglass Rooftop Bar is a contemporary interpretation of the classic sophistication and luxury reminiscent of 1940’s and 1950’s glamour in New York. Serving as both a hotspot for the city’s most fashionable and talked about events, Spyglass is also a comfortable escape for New Yorker’s and tourists alike. Guests at Spyglass Rooftop Bar will experience breath-taking panoramic views, small bites and crafted cocktails. Not to mention the hotel has the most Instagram worthy bathrooms!
