From the moment we arrived at Fairlawns Boutique hotel, our breath was taken away. (We’ve stayed in the loveliest resorts across the country but Fairlawns is quite literally the most beautiful boutique hotel in Gauteng). The staff is as attentive as Beyoncé’s plethora of assistants and nothing is too much trouble (Our butler Neil ran our editor’s bubble bath with painful attention to detail. She got a robe arrangement and rose petals fit for Marie Antoinette).
The hotel which has recently undergone a major renovation is decadent and modern and looks slightly similar to the set of ABC’s The Bachelor. With a hotel so beautiful, falling in love has never been easier (so if you really really really want to impress your partner this is the place to be).
From the crispest percale linen to candlelight dinner in a gazebo at the pool (strewn with more rose petals and candles) to the most delicious lamb shank and first class staff, Fairlawns leaves guests wanting for nothing, and we haven’t even gotten to the spa yet!
Our editor enjoyed an hour Swedish massage which she ranked in her top five massages of all times (and this is a woman who gets paid to rate beauty treatments). The understated class of the hotel will leave guests feeling as if they are the love interest in an Enrique Iglesias music video and you’ll be so relaxed and well taken care of that the fact that you’re there with your partner rather than Enrique won’t seem as disappointing.
